Rev. Dr. Kevin Russell Sheppard, Sr.

Rev. Dr. Kevin Russell Sheppard, Sr. currently resides in Irmo, SC. He is a native of Newberry, SC where he was born and raised. Pastor Sheppard was educated through the Newberry County School System, graduating from Newberry High School, and immediately enrolling and serving United States Air Force as an Aircraft Inspector. After his time in the military, he continued his education at Newberry College, pursuing a degree in International Government & Commerce; Midlands Technical College, receiving a Paralegal Studies Degree; University of South Carolina obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies; and furthering his studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary pursuing the Master of Divinity and Master of Christian Counseling Degree; and in December of 2022, he was awarded the Doctorate in Christian Education from the School of the Great Commission Theological Seminary and Bible College.

Rev. Sheppard is a bi-vocational Pastor. After having served as the Senior Pastor of the Mt. Rowell Baptist Church in Union, SC from July 2006 to April of 2014, in May of 2014, Pastor Sheppard began his role as Senior Pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chapin, SC where he currently serves. Currently, he serves as the Vice-Moderator of the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Association, under the leadership of Moderator, Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Noble. Pastor Sheppard recently completed his tenure as Special Assistant to the President of the Baptist Education & Missionary Convention of South Carolina serving under Dr. Donald E. Greene, Immediate Past Convention President, and now currently serves as the Assistant Director of Registration for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

Being bi-vocational, Rev. Sheppard is employed as the Title IX Coordinator and ADA Compliance Officer at Winthrop University. He is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and he is an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, and the Atlanta Braves. Pastor Sheppard is married and is the proud father of 2 sons.
